  LOCATIONS
Puerto de la Cruz La Orotava Icod de los Vinos
Buena Vista Santa Cruz Anaga Rural Park
Candelaria Medano Los Cristianos
Acantilados de Los Gigantes

Puerto de la Cruz is the most important tourist town on the north of the island. It is the ideal place to have a relaxing holiday but not being isolated, as it has a familiar atmosphere and squares and sea boulevards full of charm. We highly recommend the visit to Jardín Botánico, Parque Taoro, Playa (Beach) Jardín, Lago Martianez and to have a coffee at Plaza de la Iglesia or Plaza del Charco, the heart of the city where tourist and natives meet. More information about routes, restaurants, interesting places in Puerto de la Cruz…

La Orotava is an ancient beautiful town with a lot of history, ideal to walk and to spend an afternoon admiring the old mansions and the narrow stone-floor streets. Go by bus from Puerto de la Cruz, or park in a private parking and Visit Jardines Victoria, Plaza del Liceo (at the Liceo they usually allow visitors to enjoy the views from their roof) and also La Casa de los Balcones and Casa Lercano as the representation of a brilliant past). If you fancy a c hocolate and a cake, do not miss Casa Egon behind the Town Hall, it is very well known among locals.

If you want to see one of the most beautiful paths in Tenerife, go to San Juan de la Rambla and go straight to Las Aguas, near the sea. You can find two restaurants there called Las Aguas (excellent rice) and El Sótano (only open when they have fresh fish). From there you see a path near the coast. Park there and follow it. Before
San Juan de la Rambla from the road you can find Mirador San Pedro. Park there and follow the path. Enjoy the views.

Visit
one of the most beautiful places in Tenerife, Garachico, -founded on 1496- and enjoy its old mansions, just sit at one of its squares and enjoy the silence. Visit the natural swimming-pools near the sea (El Caletón) and try some fish and papas arrugadas con mojo at the restaurant near the sea. Just before the tunnel, on the area called “El Gunicho” there are a few fresh fish restaurants, one of them, called El Drago (ask there for their speciality fish “viejas”) is fantastic, but only open when they have fresh fish. Garachico is full of pedestrian lanes where you will find places worth to visit, like the historical center to see the Ermita de San Roque, the Convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, the house of Marqués de la Quinta Roja, the Matriz de Santa Ana church and the castle of San Miguel.

Icod de los Vinos: The Old Dragon Tree (1.000 years old) is situated in the very heart of the town. The only problem is to park, so it’s better to go on Sunday. San Marcos Beach is a safe and nice place to go and lie down on its warm sand. You can eat fresh fish in one of its restaurants on the promenade.

From Buenavista village you can visit Punta de Teno and Masca.

Buenavista: follow the way to the Golf Course and near it there is Playa de la Arena, a very nice beach with a restaurant at the end with lovely views. Near the restaurant there is a lovely heated swimming pool for training. If you want to go to a very nice and good value restaurant, ask where you can find Restaurant La Cabaña.

From
Buenavista, you can drive up to the deep ravine called Masca, one of the most amazing views in Tenerife with its picturesque hamlet (aldea). Expert walkers like trekking down, having a swim on the beach and being collected by a boat which takes people to Los Gigantes). Masca is a nice place also just to visit it, enjoy its magnificent views and have a lemonade on the bar near the little church.

From Buenavista you can also drive on the narrow coastal road to
Punta de Teno, which is located in the extreme North of Tenerife with its spectacular views of the sea and mountains, we highly recommend that visit. Avoid going there if the road is cut.

You have to visit
and dedicate one morning to Las Cañadas (near the Mountain Teide). It is a spectacular place, take sun cream as the altitude in Las Cañadas is 2000 metres ¡Not recommended for heart problems!. The Parador Hotel is ideal to have a lovely meal in its restaurant (not in its café open to the public). Take protective cream for your face and a jersey in winter. A good starting point when visiting the park is the visitors´ centre in El Portillo, which provides plenty of interesting information on the park. To complete the trip to the park, a cable-car operates to within 20 meters of the peak. The trips in the cable car start at 9 am and finish at 4 pm. We recommend taking the first trip at 9 am to avoid queues. Currently, there are some restrictions as access is not available to the highest part of the peak. Only to gain access to the crater it is necessary to have a special permission arranged in advance in Santa Cruz our capital (we do that service free for our clients, please refer to us)

Santa Cruz is our capital, you might like to visit Calle del Castillo, full of shops, and Plaza de España, ideal to have a coffee. There is a beach ten minutes from Santa Cruz called Las Teresitas (avoid weekends in summer), the only beach on Tenerife that has golden sand, specially brought from the Sahara desert, have a swim there and then enjoy some fresh fish and sea food at the village of San Andrés, just before the beach. How to get into Santa Cruz: Taking the bus 103 or 102 from the Bus Station (departuring each ½ hour, it takes 40 minutes to arrive). By car: from the motorway you see Santa Cruz through La Salle, and then choose Avenida Marítima and “Puerto”. That way you will be able to see El Corte Inglés department stores, good for shopping and to see the fantastic new opera house Auditorium, a spectacular building near the sea, see here the program (link to www.auditoriotenerife.com )

Anaga Rural Park: this is an amazing park full of diverse and fragile ecosystems, visited by people that love nature and totally essential among the walkers visiting Tenerife. Deep ravines, green laurisilva forests, lonely black sand beaches and local simple restaurants full of charm. Access: from San Andrés village (near Teresitas beach) and also from Las Mercedes mountain near La Laguna.

Candelaria is a small town situated on the south east side of the island, well known for its Basílica de Candelaria and its sea avenue near the sea where you can find the statues of the islands previous 'Guanche Kings'. From the church square there is a pedestrian lane full of shops and activity.

El Medano: close to Tenerife South Airport, one of the best places in the world to practise windsurf, it has a fine golden sand beach ideal if you don’t mind the wind. On the area the best well known beach in the area is La Tejita, also visited to practise nudist swimming. From there you can visit the village Los Abrigos, a fishing village where you can find a wide range of fresh fish restaurants near its harbour.

Los Cristianos: on the very south of Tenerife you can find this tourist town that has a nice city old center near Playa de las Vistas, a good beach to swim. The area is full of restaurants and it is nice to walk from the pedestrian lanes to the interesting harbour. Los Cristianos is always full of tourists although the atmosphere is nice.

Acantilados de Los Gigantes: These constitute one of the most spectacular coastline scenes in the Canaries. These huge formations that rise vertically from the sea up to 600 metres high are known as the cliffs (acantilados) of Los Gigantes. There are boats that have excursions by sea to see the cliffs, you can see them anyway from La Marina area. Five minutes driving from Los Gigantes, you can find Playa de la Arena, a recommended beach near the sea. Looking to the sea on the left side of the beach you can find “Casa Pancho” restaurant, a lovely restaurant with excellent reputation. To have a nice ice-cream, at the other side of the street look for “Heladería La Golosa”. If you prefer to enjoy a meal at a simple place, visit the nearby town of San Juan where you can eat fresh fish at highly recommended Restaurant Juana La Negra near the sea.
